Our Commitment to Accessibility
AirEmail is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for NHS staff with disabilities. AirEmail is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. WCAG guidelines help make digital content accessible to people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities. We are actively working to address identified gaps and achieve full compliance.
Accessibility Features
Through Microsoft Outlook integration:

  • Keyboard navigation for all core functions
  • High contrast mode compatibility
  • Voice recognition software support
  • Scalable text and interface elements
AirEmail-Specific Features:
  • Text labels accompany colour-coded email categories
  • Consistent navigation patterns throughout the interface
  • Works across devices (PC, web, mobile)
Known Areas for Improvement
  • Task highlighting: Currently uses background highlighting only. and urgent items.
  • Keyboard navigation to clinical system links
Technical Foundation
AirEmail uses Microsoft 365 accessibility frameworks, HTML5, CSS3 with accessibility attributes, and accessible JavaScript to ensure compatibility with assistive technologies.
